Introduction to the Lea Green Link

The Lea Green Link project represents a significant step forward in promoting sustainable transportation and improving community connectivity in St Helens. This ambitious initiative aims to create a direct, safe, and convenient route for pedestrians and cyclists between Lea Green and Whiston Hospital. ## Funding and Delivery The project has received substantial financial support from Active Travel England, a government agency dedicated to encouraging active travel. The funding will cover the construction of a dedicated pathway, signage, and necessary infrastructure improvements. St Helens Council, the local authority responsible for the project, will oversee the implementation and ensure that the scheme meets the highest standards of safety and accessibility. ## Connecting Bloor Homes’ Suttonfields The Lea Green Link will commence with the construction of a pathway connecting Bloor Homes’ Suttonfields housing development on Sherdley Road.

Enhancing School Safety with New Traffic Scheme

In a bid to improve safety and accessibility for students, a new traffic scheme is being implemented near St John Vianney Primary School. This initiative is designed to provide a secure environment for children to walk, cycle, or scoot to and from school. ### Safe Routes to School The primary goal of the scheme is to create safe routes for students, ensuring they can commute to school without the risks associated with busy roads.

Works are expected to be completed by spring 2025. More information on the scheme can be found here.
