Traveling the Unseen: Laura Kagame's Vision for Uganda's Hidden Gems

Laura Kagame's love for travel started at 13 years old, after a trip to Maasai Mara National Park in Kenya, which sparked her passion for creating unforgettable experiences.

Kagame pursued a degree in tourism management at Midrand Graduate Institute in South Africa and later earned an MBA in hospitality management from Stamford International University in Thailand.

After completing her studies, Kagame worked at Flights Special, where she learned the importance of curating the whole travel experience.

She then worked at RwandaAir as their sales manager, where she gained experience in free travel opportunities, but remained grounded due to the demanding job.

Within six months of returning to Uganda, Kagame resigned from her job and launched Travel Neza in 2017.

The COVID-19 pandemic presented a significant challenge for the travel industry, prompting Kagame to revamp Travel Neza's website and focus on domestic tourism.

Kagame introduced the Neza Club and Neza digital wallet to make travel more accessible and affordable for the average Ugandan.

The Neza Club offers yearly calendar destinations, enabling clients to plan and pay in advance, and has helped create a strong community of consistent travelers.

Kagame's most memorable trip planned was a trip to Cape Town, which highlighted the sector's shift toward cultural and experiential tourism.

Kagame is committed to sharing Uganda's hidden gems with the world, promoting a more focused and innovative approach to tourism.
